Attention to all British Columbia, Canada Silvey's
We will be having another family reunion on Saturday, May 4th, 2002.
All descendants of Joseph and Lucy Silvey are welcome to attend. Joseph Silvey came from the Azores Islands of Portugal. He was a whaler and came to British Columbia in search of gold in the late 1850's early 1860's gold rush on the Fraser River. He tried mining for gold but ended up running a saloon and store in "Gastown" (now the city of Vancouver). He and his B.C. Native wife had many children. They lived in many places along the Coast of British Columbia. By the early 1870's Joseph and Lucy ended up on Reid Island in the Gulf Islands (bordered to the San Juan Islands). For several generations the family made Reid Island home. The family has spread throughout B.C. and Canada now.
The children of Joseph and Lucy Silvey were: 1. Elizabeth (Mrs. J. Walker) a daughter from Joseph's first marriage, 2. Josephine (Mrs. Anderson) a daughter from Joseph's first marriage, 3.Domingo Silvey (and Josephine Crocker), 4. Mary Adelaide (Mrs. Buss), 5. Joseph Silvey (and Mary King), 6.Antonio Silvey (and Alice Alec), 7. Manuel Silvey (and Charlotte Andrews), 8. John Silvey (and Charlotte Peterson), 9. Andrew Henry (and Amelia Andrews), 10. Lena Rose (Mrs. Frank Beale).
