I did not know about my heritage.I just found out recently through finding a few old documents in the family.Now I know I am Portugese.
great-grandparents: Joseph Ernesto Da Silva Da Santo b. 1870, Azores, Portugal Immigrated to US: about 1889 married:Maria Conceicao Soares 1895, Hyannis, Barnstable Co., Mass (Maria b. 1875, Lajes, Pico, Azores)
Mary b. 1896 Joseph b. 1989 Frank b. 1900 John b. 1902 Tony (Anthony/Antionio) b. 2/9/1904 Al (Alfonso) b. 1906 Mabel b. 1908 Carthim (sp?) b. 1910 Jenny (Genivieve) b. 1912
The family first started out in Barnstable, that is where Mary was born, moved to N. Easton, Mass by 1898, had 6/7 children there.
Carthim (Latin sp, or misp) could have been Carry, Cathy, Corrine, etc., could be possible child, via baptismal recs, stating parents as god-parents, child may have died in infancy; family moved to Eustis, Lake Co., FL about 1910, pos. for wife's health, she had TB; Jenny was born there in Eustis-1912.Maria Soares (mother) died 1915, Eustis.
