Hello Jeffery, Timothy B. Simonton (b. Abt. Feb. 3, 1834 in Clermont or Warren County, Ohio AND d. Sept. 11, 1878 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, Wisconsin) came with his family as early settlers of La Crosse in 1852. I do not have any information connecting him with the Civil War as yet, though at least 26 of his cousins (including 12 first cousins)are similarly descended from Adam Simonton of Ohio and did participate in that War. See http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~snugaza/simonton/patriotpage.htmlhttp://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~snugaza/simonton/patriotpage.html
Timothy never married and was employed as a railroad clerk in 1870. He is listed as being buried in the family plot of his father John S. Simonton in Oak Grove Cemetery (Section 6, Lot 4/5)and he appears to have resided with his parents throughout his life (based on transcriptions of census data that I can provide upon request). Do you live in or near La Crosse? If so, as the webmaster of the Adam Simonton of Ohio website, I would be very appreciative if you could send me a digital photo of Timothy's gravestone as well as his other family members buried nearby,...presuming of course that you possess or have access to a digital camera. Please email me (Email: email@example.com) if you can help. Also please let me know if you are related to any of these Simonton family members.
