Charles D. 'Buddy' Sine, 75, of Cookeville, TN, loving
husband, father and awesome grandfather, died suddenly,
Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at home in Cookeville, TN. He was
born July 13, 1935, in Big Stone Gap, VA, the son of
Charles A. Sine, Jr. and Ruth Virginia Hurd Sine.
Bud was a retired claim superintendent from State Farm
Insurance. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in
Cookeville since moving here in 1985.
Bud was best known for being a kind, compassionate, giving
and loving person. He was happiest when helping others,
and spent his time volunteering with his church, Habitat
for Humanity, Helping Hands, The Cookeville Visitors
Center as well as any others in need. He was also a member
of the Cookeville Rose Society and loved working with his
roses. His most cherished time was the time he spent with
Bud and Grace Anna Green Sine were married in Oak Ridge,
TN, on December 13, 1958. Bud and Grace Anna lived in
Kingsport, TN, until Bud’s work took the family to
Knoxville, TN, and finally to Cookeville, TN, where they
have resided since 1985. They recently celebrated their
50th anniversary with a New England cruise given to them
by their children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Sine, of
Kingsport, TN; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Sine Cameron,
Bud Sine is survived by his partner, friend and wife of 51
years, Grace Anna Sine; and his father, Charles A. Sine,
of Kingsport, TN; his children and their families, Polly
Sine Wehmann, her husband John and son Harrison of
Charlottesville, VA, Charles 'Chuck' Sine, of Knoxville,
TN, and Pamela Sine Degges, her husband Tom and
daughters, Kirsten and Morgan of Knoxville, TN.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2011,
5 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 12 noon until service
time at the church.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at
1 p.m., at Cookeville First Presbyterian Church, with Rev.
Pat Handlson officiating.
