Ron it's been a long time since we've communicated. Two cents? heck I think you got a whole nickel's worth in there!
Yes a very old post of mine which contains some errors. That is the only thing I know for 100% sure, I make mistakes and probably will continue to do so no matter how hard I try not to.That is why I very rarely give my work in its entirety to anyone and do not upload an entire family line to the internet.
I've only given my Sines of Virginia line to three people and I believe you are one of them. I will always share my data for anyone that asks but I am very reluctant to give it all up at once for the very reasons you state.Heck even when I put in notes like, "no actual proof of this relationship except circumstantial data" the damn thing sometimes ends up online as fact.
Now for the Wolfe line, I have put together file but it is mostly undocumentedprior to 1850. Right now I hesitate to take on that job. Maybe after I retire in a year or so. I did make a copy of the W's in the marriage ledger in Morgantown WV when I was there. It mostly contains marriage after 1850.
Abigail Wolfe
I have Abgail Wolfe married to a John Sines but no descendants for them and only parents for Abigail. I only entered this data into my file because it is data others have. I have never found ANY PROOF including circumstantial of this relationship other than an erroneous entry in a local history book.
Distant Cousins
As far the Sines that was a reporter for a local Ohio newspaper, I've heard that also but have never found anything in his writings to support that he made the claim that JacobSines and Mary Sines were distant cousins. He could very well have said that and very well have believed it. Heck even if that is true it does NOT take into account that Jacob's mother and Mary's mother were sisters making them 1st cousins on the Wolfe side.
John Henry Sines
I do think there was a John Henry Sines but it would be;
Johan Henrich, b. 15 May 1767, baptized 8 June 1767, son of John Wilhelm and Anna Maria Sehn.Wit: None. Baptism performed by: I. G. Alsentz Hunterdon NJ
i THINK this is the son of John William Sines of Shenandoah county VA and over the years the name in the stories became confused. HOWEVER, and this is a BiG HOWEVER, there was a John Sines in Monongalia county VA at the same time as Henry Sines 1767 and Henry Sines 1777. I've speculated on his relationship but again no real proof whatsoever other than he is in the same local region of Monongalia county at the same time as the two Henrys.
Take care Ron, I'm still plugging away on these Sines and maybe I may find something eventually.
