Carol,
I'm assuming this is you! This is Shirley's daughter.I have also been to Craven's grave.Julia is buried in Cockrum Cemetery. There is not a stone but she is buried next to her mother.Grandma (Aleta) says there was a stone there once but it must have been vandalized or washed away in on of the floods.Craven was not buried there because the cemetery was under water at the time of his death.I am planning on having Julia's stone replaced but am trying desperately to get more exact dates on her birth and death. All I can come up with is that she was born sometime after the 1880 census done in August and before May of 1881.She died sometime after the 1920 census done in May but before Octber of that year.I have tried desperately but to no avail. Have you by chance come across anything or found her in the 1900 census?By the way, Grandma (Aleta) claims that the Craven's true birth year was 1867...the fudged on some insurance papers to get a cheeper rate before he died. This matches up with records from NC.Craven did remarry but Grandma won't talk about her...she refers to her as the "old lady", she did outlive Craven but I get the impression they weren't living together at the time of Craven's death.I also can not find Craven and the kids during the 1930 census, have you? They had to have been either in Dunklin County or Craighead.I do have a picture of Craven and am wondering if it is the sameone as you.My scanner died and I haven't got my new one hooked up yet. It's one of him from about the waist up in overall's.I also have a picture of Julia taken about 1900 with her cousin.I will be more than glad to send you copies. You can send me your postal address at [email protected] would love to have a copy of the one you have of Craven.Grandma told me that her family was living in rural Kennett in 1932 when their rented farm burned at Christmas...no one home. They had found a place in Hornersville to rent and moved there. While visiting Roy & Dot early Feb 1933 the floods came not allowing them to return to Hornersville. While away Cravin had a stoke.Bill went back to Hornersville to get their things...the family never returned. Also I don't have any info as to dates, places and details on chldren for Uncle Roy's line.Anything you can pass on would be great.Talk to you soon.
Vicki
