Yes, these people that were your family were the ones my dad and his family knew. Lawrence Co., Perry Township,(where Springville is located) is just north of where Mariah's parents were buried, which was in the adjoining township of Indian Creek. If you could have a map of the Lawrence and Martin County region, it would help you to see that all of these places are not very far apart.
When Iredell and Mahala Fields followed other family members north to Indiana from Kentucky around 1830,they first settled in Indian Creek Township. But by 1840, Iredell and family had bought land in Martin Co., Baker Township. This is just 'over the hill' from Indian Creek Township in Lawrence Co.
I am not surprised that the original George Sipes was in the American Revolution; both counties had several soldiers of that war buried on their land, including my ancestors. The area has always been very patriotic.
