Hi Helen--James Marion's father was James Martin Sivia who lived in Union Co., Illinois, but I think moved to Oklahoma with James Marion.James Martin had at least 2 siblings, John Franklin Sivia, who was my gt grandfather, & a sister named Mary Ann Sivia.Their father was Jacob Sivia, who was in Union Co. by about 1820.Incidentally the name on early census roles was spelled various ways, including Sive, Sivey, Siva, & others, & the spelling Sivia did not come about till in the second half of the 1800's, & even then it was still sometimes spelled Sivey. To this day people in Union Co. pronounce the name as if it were spelled Sivey. Also there are no Sivias anywhere in the country prior to Jacob, but there are Siveys, Sives, etc.All this convinces me that the name was originally spelled one of those ways.
I have a lot of material on the Sivia's,including James Martin's family, & would be glad to share it with you. In return I would appreciate what you might have on James Marion's descendants, as his family is about the only one missing from my records.Let me hear from you!
