Surely it is the other way round - when did the Sizers get to the US from the UK?.
Historically (about the 14/15th Century), the original "Sizers" were students at Cambridge who were accepted as pupils as long as they provided the man servant role to the more wealthy and people who had matriculated fully.This is evident from latterly some students being named "Sizer Students".This also explains the large number of Sizers in Cambridge, Norfolk and Suffolk in UK - although my interest in Sizer goes back to George Sizer born about 1725 in Scremby, Linconshire - who by the way has many descendants in California and Canada.
