Thanks for listing the names of the children of Adam Skain.I am a Baldwin researcher.Moses Baldwin married Ann Skain, daughter of Adam Skain. Researcher Brent Howard Holcomb found a land deed dated 1822 when Moses Baldwin sold property to (his father-in-law Adam Skain?). I noticed in another posting that Adam moved to Alabama in the early 1820's.
Union Co., SC Deed Book R, page 224 Moses Baldwin of Union District, to Adam Skain of same, for $250, tract, part of grant to William Smith, sold to Anna Smith, then to Moses Baldwin, 29 July 1822.....Moses Baldwin (LS), Wit: John Skain, James Skein Jr.
Is there a possibility that Moses Baldwin sold his property to Adam Skain Jr. in 1822?Moses is listed on the 1830 census in Pike Co., Alabama. Rev. War Pension papers for the deceased Adam Skain, dated 1849, identify a daughter Ann Skain as the wife of Moses Baldwin. The document dealt with the children's probate of Adam Skain's Rev. War Pension.
I had assumed Moses Baldwin sold his property to his father-in-law the year 1822, then moved to Pike Co., Alabama.I now wonder if he sold his property to a brother-in-law, Adam Skain Jr., and then followed his father-in-law to Alabama.I thought you might be interested in this Union Co., SC deed.
