Esther was born in New Jersey 3/17/1822.
Esther's parents were James and Betsy Skelenger. I assume Betsy is aka Elizabeth, but the only documents I have say Betsy Ayers.
Ester was married 2/1843 to John H. Casterline. There is some variation on the date with the documents I have but, Ron supplied this one. Ancestry.com has this date too.
Esther and John' Children:
Warren Smith 6/5/1843
George1847
Emma1851
Emerit1853
Luther H.8/5/1855
Allen1859
Willis aka William 1863.
Warren was born in Sandystone, NJ
In the 1850 Census he was living in Wantage, NJ. with George Casterline b.1786. Hannah Casterline b.1761 was living there too. Georges wife Jane b. 1786.
In the 1860's, He marries Hattie Richards. Also in 1864 he enlists in the civil war with his cousin Dennis Casterline b.1849 in Skullkill/Dauphnin county. They don't actually see any war.
Then he disappears to reapper in the 1900 census in the Wilks Barre. He claims not to know where he was born nor where his parents were born and he is married to Atta Montrose with three children. trade is blacksmith. In the 1890 and 1891 subsitute Census he is a blacksmith in Wilkes Barre also. I've much more to reseach on this fellow.
George I havn't found much on.
Emma was married to Slyvester Isby. Had three children Howard, George, and Lester. died 1905.
Emerit not much info on him.
Luther married Anna Mattes 1885. They had one child Esther Amelia b.1887
Luther died 1938 hypertroypied prosate.
Allen married Mamie Smith 1887. They had several children. Everit,Bertha,LeRoy, Homer and Emma.
Not sure exactly when he died but he was alive for the 1910 Census.
William Casterlin married Nellie M. I could find no children in the Census so far but family story has them with 1 daughter. But Her will executed 1935 gives everything to him. His will executed in 1937 leaves everything to Esther Casterlin and Fred Misch.
Ester Skelenger Casterline husband died in 1898. In the 1900 Census she was living with her daughter Emma Isby. IN the 1910 census Ester is living with Allen. Ester died in 1911 from kidney failure. She is buried in the Casterline Family plot in Clarks Green Cemetary(the older section), Clark Summit, PA
Ester S. Casterlin stayed in the city of Scranton around 1905 for medical treatment, but returned to "her home" in 1909. The house in Glenburn twp. Allen was next door. This is from a letter a friend wrote to Esther Casterline Misch when Esther was away from home in NY. Her friend was writting her to update her on "the goings on".
I write more about specfic dates and the grand children. later.
Thanks
