Mamie Lou Skelton Bishop, 91, of Church Hill, Hawkins Co
TN, departed for her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 11,
2010, at the Church Hill Health Care and Rehab following a
Mamie had a sweet sprit, gentle nature, and a generous
heart. She was much loved by her family and friends. Her
door was always open and visitors welcome.
Mrs. Bishop was a life long resident of Hawkins County,
and was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Bishop,
in 1985; parents, Melvin Oliver Skelton and Cora Elizabeth
Phillips Skelton; brothers, Samuel Skelton, Hubert Skelton,
and Claude Skelton; sisters, Kate Bishop, Ruby Woods, and
twin sister, Lyda Housewright; daughter-in-law, Sue Bishop;
and nephew, Jerry Bishop.
Survivors include sons, Wallace Bishop and wife Thelma of
Riply, OH, Wayne Bishop of Church Hill, TN; daughters,
Carolyn Wolfe and husband Edsel, Judy Slagle and husband
Bobby, and Charlotte Johnston and husband Hal, all of
Church Hill, TN;grandchildren, Wendy Price and husband
Tony, Randy Slagle and wife Vicki, and Brandee Stoots and
husband Scotty; great grandchildren, Britany Price,
Victoria Price, Kendall Stoots, Nathan Stoots, and
Brittnee Slagle; nephew, Rick Bishop, and several other
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, May 14,
2010, at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime
at the residense of her daughter, Judy Slagle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Friday, at
Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Fowler officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday,
May 15, 2010, at Elm Springs Cemetery. Family and friends
are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m.,
Saturday. Pallbearers will be Alexandra Skelton, James
Skelton, Rick Bishop, Tony Price, Scotty Stoots, Onzie
Woods, and Dale Housewright.
