Note:
Newspaper article, Wehadkee News Friday, May 6, 1898- The man who deals in the wiskey traffic always gets in trouble. We heard the sad news of the death of Mr. Lee Skipper, one of our neighbors. He was sent to the United States Penitentiary last May, at Columbus, Ohio. Thus by excessive drink and dealing in the liquor traffic he came to his death away from relatives and friends.
This proves what we have been told by the older generations- that Lee workedfor a government still. He would drill small holes in the barrels and claiming that the wood worms had eaten holes in the barrels. He would catch the whiskeythat dripped out and sell it on the side. He was caught and sent to prison where he got the measles and died. His drink of choice was peach brandy and he enjoyed sitting on the porch of his house on Sunday afternoons. (from Paul Skipper's file)
Homer Lee Skipper said that he died the day that James Erastus "T" Skipper was born. (from Paul Skipper's file)
