I am seeking descendants or researchers with documentation or plausible origin theories for this man.He appears in 1870 Transylvania NC census b ca 1826, w wife Elizabeth and son James b ca 1854 NC. I am unable to find an 1860 census for him.
He MAY be the "Young Slaton" found living with the YOUNGBLOOD family in 1850 Greenville SC census, thus his middle name may be Young or Youngblood.
There were several men who appear in 1860 census who could be his father:John "Jack" Slatton & Nancy (Saul) of Jackson co NC, Thomas Slatton/Slaton & Nancy (Gibb)of Greenville SC; these are two men with issue b ca 1828 in this census who could easily have produced Charles. Also, Larkin Slatton of Greenville is a dark horse:he is gone by 1850 but could be a major progenitor.
In 1880, Charles & Elizabeth have LOCKABY niece and nephews in their household, and presumed son James has his own household.
