Hi Glenda, I am here. Not exactly certain though that William Smitherman who married Gracey Latham is going to be William Smitherman Sr. who died in 1821/22 Bibb Co., AL. Even IF it were William Sr. who actually did marry Gracey Latham there would be no children except perhaps Nancy Rebecca Smitherman b. ca 1808 NC who married Alfred Atkinson/Atchison. Remember that William Sr's oldest son according to his estate was Samuel who remained in NC after William Sr. and the rest of William Sr's children ALL migrated to Bibb Co., Al. Samuel from best I can tell was born around 1777 but I know before 1778 when Catherine was born. Samuel was the one who died 1836 in Troy, Montgomery Co., NC. The major Latham marriage in this line was that of Catherine Smitherman b. ca 1778 NC to William Latham Sr. For all we know the William Smitherman who married Mrs. Gracey Latham could very well have been William Sr's son William James/James William Smitherman who was born ca 1787 NC. I have a lot of questions on William Jr's family and especially what the surname of his spouse Anna was [Anna, was listed as his widow and is the one who married Rev. Julius Webb after the death of William Jr. NOTE: Anna was also deceased by 1870 and her widowed husband Julius Webb was living in the household of Michael White and was listed as a minister. Also note that William Jr. and Anna had a son named Andrew White Smitherman and the property belonging to William Jr. at the time of his death was property that according to the BLM was sold to Andrew White. This makes me wonder if Anna was actually related to the Whites who also came out of NC at the same time or thereabouts. Seems to coincidental about the middle name and the land records.] NOTE: William Smitherman Jr.'s daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Smitherman b. ca 1810 NC [per 1860 US Bibb Co., AL. Census] who married Lewis Goodwin named her 1st born daughter Gracy.
