A reunion for descendants of Samuel SMYTHEMAN / SMITHERMAN (who came from England to America in 1744) is being planned for next year - May 19 to 21, 2007. All descendants of any of Samuel SMYTHEMAN's sons and descendants of his daughter who married Charles Gardner HOLDEN (the son of John HOLDEN) are invited.
It will take place in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties in Northern Virginia where the families lived in the second half of the 18th century. Two all day tours will include visits to John HOLDEN's 1762 farm, the area where Samuel SMYTHEMAN lived, and sites of interest to family history including 18th century churches, a gristmill, taverns, and a reconstructions of an 18th century tenant tobacco farm and 18th century market fair. The reunion is planned to go back-to-back with America's 400th anniversary celebration in Jamestown, VA and the National Genealogical Conference in Richmond, VA.
The reunion is a year away to give you time to plan your vacation schedule, but there are several things that we need to start doing now: - spread the word to others who may be interested in coming - send in your early registration so we can get a tentative count of the number coming to know the size of meeting room and hotel to reserve - get your genealogy, photographs, and family stories ready to bring and share - let us know if you would like to work on the planning committee
