Since I posted my original message, I have found that the Mt. Clemens Snays are descended from Nicholas Senet, a Frenchman who emigrated to Montreal around 1670-1680.My husband's line from Nicholas moved to Michigan around 1790.If you look on the forum at messages to and from Ken Slayton and me you will find some additional information.Do you have your great-grandparents names? That might help in determining what branch of the family you descend from. Also, a book by Denissen about the French families of the Detroit area has a lot of information on the Senets and related families.I believe this book and many other materials on French Canadians in the area are in the Mt. Clemens library. I can't give you anything more specific now as I am on vacation, but I think you'll find a lot of good information in the library.Write me again if you have anymore questions.
