I suspect that my Julie Snay is a sister of your Peter Snay. One reason is that Julie Snay lived in Saranac at the same time as Peter. Julie was probably born about 1810.
She was married to Francois Sauvage. They had a son named Louis Savage who enlisted in the same regiment as Abraham Snay and was also one of the men that captured John Wilks Boothe. The pension file of my Louis Savage has a deposition that was sworn out by Abraham Snay that states that he knew Louis since he was a child and lived nearby most of his life.
Abraham also testifies that my Louis was in poor health because he was thrown from a horse while in the calvary. My Louis lived in the household of Abraham Snay the last few years of his life as his wife Sara had already passed away.
Of course this isn't proof they are related, but you can see a strong connection. I wish there were church records of the baptisms of the children of both Peter & Julie. I bet they and their spouses were godparents to each others children.
My ancestor is Jean Baptiste (AKA John) Savage, the oldest son of Francois Sauvage & Julie Snay born in 1830. So John is the brother of Louis Sauvage.
