Joan Thank you very much for your response. I posted this posting because I was given this information but did not want to "treat it as gospel" until someone else had confirmed that it is true. Just to let you know my link to this family, Marshall Diggs and Ann Snead's oldest son was William Diggs. William Diggs married Nancy ??? and raised 8 children. (I am still trying to learn Nancy's maiden name.) Their 7th child was Wincy and she married John C. McRae about 1838. They moved to Lafayette County Ms. and started a family. I am a descendent of their son Daniel Thomas. If you have questions about people living in Lafayette County MS. I would love to help you by looking up people in the books which I possess. I actually live in Evergreen CO.
Questions? 1. I see this will was filed in Richmond County NC. Have you done much research there? I have had no luck finding the parents of my John C. McRae in Anson County! It is as if he just showed up in Anson County in 1838 married Wincy Diggs and then moved on. I have wondered if the Diggs lived on the border with Richmond County and my John C. McRae is really from that county. Are you aware on many McRae families living in Richmond County around 1840?
2. Are you aware of books available on the records of Richmond County available for purchase.
3. Is there a way I can get a copy of Isreal Snead's will for my records? I would be happy to pay the costs.
