I'm very interested in your Martha Ann Snead.I think my own elusive GA Snead line may be closely related.
I've tracked mine to a William H. Snead who was b., according to his tombstone and bible, on 27 Oct. 1813, probably in GA.On 24 Nov. 1836, he m. Caroline Scoggins in Greene Co., GA, and their oldest child was named Martha A.
Around 1838, when his father-in-law Wright Scoggins d. in Greene Co., William H. Snead moved his family to Randolph Co., GA, where your Martha Ann also ended up.
A decade later, the family moved to Ringgold in Bienville Psh., LA.
I haven't located William's father, but believe he may be a Samuel Snead who d. bef. 5 Feb. 1822 in Burke Co., GA.That Samuel was son of Dudley and Nancy Snead of Granville Co., NC, and Burke Co., GA, and had a brother Dudley who went to Lee Co., GA, and appears in Randolph Co., GA, records.Dudley married as his first wife Sarah Ann Culbertson, and I have long been told that there's a Culbertson connection in my Snead line.
Would love to swap information. My Sneads have been very elusive, and maybe we can put the puzzle together.
