It appears that Sophia is the daughter of Dudley Sneed (died 1810).Dudley is the son of Capt. Samuel Sneed and his wife Jane Dudley of Granville Co. and Person Co., NC.Dudley's estate papers are found in Granville County starting in 1810, but he appears to have removed from NC to Lincoln Co., GA to settle on land granted for his Revolutionary War Service.Among the estate papers of his nephew William M. Sneed in Granville there is a documentdated 1818 listing Dudley's heirs as:Samuel, Dudley, Leaston, Sophia Inman, and Nancy Jarvis.It appears Sophia and Nancy are daughters, but some have said Nancy was his wife and married 2ndly Floyd Jarvis.In 1818, his son Dudley was a minor.
From secondary sources I have:
Nancy married Floyd Jarvis and lived in Richmond Co, GA;
Leaston married perhaps Rebecca and left record in Morgan Co, GA ; however, a Leaston Sneed died in 1840 in Waynesborough, GA not long after his son Thaddeus and the newspapers named a wife Susan.
Dudley is believed to be the man found in Lincoln Co, GA and later in Lee Co., GA who married Sarah Ann Culbertsen, daughter of Sen. James Culbertsen.
Samuel may be the man who married Sarah Croft in Putnam Co., GA and died in 1822 in Burke County.
This is not my direct line, I am researching Capt Samuel Sneed and his wife Jane Dudley.I would like to know more about this family and would like to see some careful research better identifying these people.There were several Sneed families in GA and I also suspect that some of Dudley's brothers or nephews may have followed him to Georgia.I have not identified Dudley's wife's name, but I suspect she was a Mitchell.
