I know what you mean about sticking with the research, I have been working for over 18yrs on the Snelling line and still no closer to documenting the parents of my Hugh Snelling line..
Have to be soooo careful when working on this line, there is alot of mights or maybes posted without documentation. So be sure to ask for sources when info is provided, thats why I included mine.
Sooooo, based on the 27 may 1869 marriage of Benson Snelling and Catherine D. Buford; she could not be the mother of the children on the 1870 IN, Crawford Co, Patoka twp census..except for Linza who was really a Buford not a Snelling.
Before I type all this stuff; You now have the 1870 & 1880 census for Benson Snelling......what census years do you have for William H. Snelling????
Were you aware William H's wife name was really Clarinda A. Brown??? But looks like she went by Alice C. on most census records. It is hard to know for sure if the C. stood for Charles; the Snelling line also used Curtis.
