I've just found your entries in this forum ... apologies for taking so long to join in!!
I'm also of Snelling descent with the earliest record being John Snelling of Plympton St Mary who died in 1529.
His son William, b. 1496, had a son Robert of Chadlewood, (d. 1570, m. 1. Nicola Slanning, & 2. Johane?)and he had at least 3 sons, Emanuel, d. 1624; William of Chadlewood who m. Jane Specott, & Robert who m. Grace Hals.
William of Chadlewood's son Thomas, b. 1644 at Plympton St Mary and was christened in 1565 at Marlborough, m. Joane, d. of Elford. They had a son John Snelling who married Frances Hele.
Their son John, christened 17/1/1624 at Plympton St Mary, m. Mary Mitchell/Michell on 1 Feb 1656 at St Petrox in Dartmouth Exeter. The line continues until Catherine Snelling m. Thomas Street on 1 Jun 1803 and their son Charles Drew Street emigrated to Australia in 1832. This is where our Street family settled permanently.
There's probably a connection somewhere way back, but I thought you may be interested in seeing my Snelling line just to see if there was anything familiar at all.
