Irving I. Solomon, 98, died Saturday, May 1st in the Jewish Healthcare Center. His wife of almost 49 years, Esther (Millman) Solomon died in 1988.
He leaves a son, Joel Solomon of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Retha Brennick of Boston; three grandsons, Jeffrey Solomon of Tampa, Steven Solomon of Marblehead and Michael Materazi of Austin, TX and two granddaughters, Lianne Solomon of Tampa and Judy Gaucher of Worcester and 4 great grandchildren.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Samuel and Bessie (Grace) Solomon and graduated Classical High School. A life long resident of Worcester, Mr. Solomon owned Mass Dye Cleaners before he went to work for the Quality Fish Market as a salesman and fish cutter for 25 years. Upon its closing he then worked at several local fish stores and retired when he was 85 years old. He was a longtime volunteer for the Fallon Clinic.
He was a member of Tefereth Israel–Sons of Jacob Synagogue, the former Shaarai Torah Synagogue East and Temple Emanuel.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, TODAY, MONDAY, MAY 3rd in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Burial will be in B'Nai Brith Cemetery. Memorial observance will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
