I have a number of relatives called Froom, all born in Shute Devon. My mother was Iris Froom born Shepton Mallet, my grandad was Ernest Harold Froom born 1899 in Wadeford and I have just come across the following information in the 1881 census:
Robert Froom born 1824-1825 in Shute Devon
married
Georgina born 1825 in Beer, Devon
Children:
Melita Froom born 1863 in Shute (a girl)
William Froom born 1865 in Shute (my great, grandfather)
Henry Froom born 1871 in Shute
At the time of the 1881 census they were living at Late Reynolds, Shute, Devon.
I'd like to know the following:
a) Should the correct name be Lake Reynolds or Late Reynolds in Shute??
b) Do you know whether in your family tree James Froom, Elizabeth Froom and Joseph Froom were all children of Robert and Mary?
c) Have you any idea how my great great grandfather Robert Froom (born approx 1824/5) and his wife Georgina fit into the picture. (The simplest and easiest answer would be that he was the oldest brother of all three, but I've been researching families long enough to know that things are never that simple!!!)
Any help would be much appreciated
Many thanks
