1. Johann1 NOSS or NASS was born Bef. 1841 in of Briesen, West Prussia, Germany. He married Ernestine SOMMERFELD.
Notes for Johann NOSS or NASS:
According to a newspaper article, there were an additional number of sons and daughters that remained in Germany, and were still alive in the early 1900's. These may have included August and Emil, who corresponded with the Noss's in Minnesota and Saskatchewan. One of them may have had a daughter named Marguerite (married name Eckwert?) as we have a photo of her dated 1944 or 47. Correspondence from August was postmarked Bahrendorf, West Prussia, and from Emil was Heilsberg in 1911, from Marguerite was Marienburg in 1923
Notes for Ernestine SOMMERFELD:
Karl Sommerfeld may have been a brother or nephew of Ernestine. There is an old picture, perhaps from the early 1900's which includes him and a son named Alfred, along with a wife and perhaps a sister or aunt of either parent. There are a number of letters written in German that were addressed to or from Friedrich Sommerfeld written between 1910 to 1948, but am unsure whether they were simply forwarded by Rudi Sommerfeld (perhaps name of Friedrich) in the mid 1950's. Rudi married Cathrin and had son Martin in Hannover, Germany, and moved to Saskatchewan in the 1960's? and then to Saskatoon. Augusta Noss sponsored their immigration.
Ernestine's name was listed as Christine in her son Gustav's obituary, but Ernestine is more probable.
