In John Somer's own oral testement to his grown family he said he was from Cork (City, County ??) I do know the Somers, Sommers surname was not that common in Cork County in 1850
John died in 1939 in Philadelphia

Parents listed in family record as William Magee (or McGee) and Ellen Mullin (or Mullen)
Oral history said William Magee was a high ranking member of the Northern Ireland Church, possibly a Church "Bishop" and possibly had a brother John. Time frame for William Magee's birth would be approx. 1820-1835
Susan, a Protestant from Antrim (possibly Belfast area) m. John Somers of Cork, a Catholic, and left Ireland in 1879 for Pennsylvania.
Susan died in 1923 in Philadelphia
There do not seem to be any records prior to the emigration.
Susan's parent's were said to have 'disowned her for converting to Catholicism".
They settled in Hokendauqua, Lehigh County and are listed on the 1880 census under the surname spelled Sommers. Susan age 21 and John age 25
7 Children all born in Hokendauqua, Pennsylvania between 1880 and 1895. William John James Matthew Anna Ellen Mary
