Greetings Benjamin, A lot or Richard Sorrels decendants met last year at Monticello. The decendents of everyone that was involved trere was invited. All the decendents of Jefferson, his Slaves, and anyone who worked there. Thomas Jefferson keep a Garden Book in which he wrote his instructions for work that was being done. Richard Sorrels and his son William were mentioned.
Every familey there had a representative give a history of their family as it concerned Monticello. Our representative was Russell Sorrells (russellsorrells@NetZero.net). Richard Sorrels lived on a 200 acre farm across the river from Thomas Jefferson and was a friend of Jeffersons father, he was in his 50's and Jefferson was in his 20's. He sold Jefferson Chickens and Turkeys to help feed his crew when they were building the Plantation.
