Will of Russel Jones
In the name of God, Amen.
I Russel Jones of Franklin Co. and State of Georgia do make and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all others. First my will is that my just debts be paid.
Secondly, I give unto my dear wife Sarah Jones during her natural life or widowhood all that part of the tract of land whereon I now live, and which I purchased of Thomas Meriwether, that lies on the north side of Naked Cr. including my mill thereon, provided she shall not be permitted to lease, rent or otherwise permit anyone to cultivate, or otherwise occupy any part thereof. I further give to my said wife Sarah, during her natural life or widowhood, one Negro Girl Anica. I further give unto my said wife during her natural life, one negro woman named Caty and one negro man named Friday in terms of a marriage contract entered into between my said wife and myself prior to our intermarriage, the named Negro Caty is in lieu of Dice, named in said marriage contract. I further give unto my said wife, during her natural life two horses worth sixty dollars each, two feather beds, bedsteads and furniture, two cows and calves, one bureau, my sideboard and clock, my cupboard, one carding machine, one third of my sideboard and cupboard furniture, six setting chairs, six silver teaspoons, one common table, two spinning wheels, and two small trunks. Also, one third of my stock of hoggs, together with a sufficient quantity of corn and fodder for her support until she can raise a crop. I give unto my said wife Sarah, her heirs and assigns forever, the following negroes, to wit, Peter, Sarah and her six children, viz, Adam, Edy, Aquilla, Hager, Joshua and Susan, with their increase, one hundred dollars in money, one feather bed and furniture. The above and foregoing property (except that part that is given in perpetuity) at the expiration of the terms mentioned.
I bequeath in the same manner as the rest of my residuary estate, to wit, I give and bequeath unto my son Russel Jones my negro man Bob and his wife Nelly and their children (viz) Joc, Milly, Miriah, Polly, Solomon, Eliza, Bob, Perry and Seaborn, together with their increase together with one tenth part of the reversionary legacies herein divised, to my wife; I give and bequeath unto my son in law Allen Daniel, five dollars. I give unto my grandchildren, children of my daughter Polly Daniel jointly (except William Daniel) deducting from Oliver Powells proportion, the sum of two hundred and forty dollars, one ninth part of my remaining estate, I give unto my grandchildren, heirs of Dudley Jones, deceased, one other ninth part of my residuary estate, out of which said ninth part, I give to the illegitimate daughter of my granddaughter Nancy Hooper four hundred dollars to remain in the hands of my executors until she shall become of lawful age or marry.
I give unto my son in law Benjamin Cleveland one other ninth part of my residuary estate deducting therefrom the sum of four hundred dollars. I give unto my six grandchildren, children of my daughter (dec'd) Amelia Allen, one other ninth part of my residuary estate, deducting therefrom the sum of seven hundred dollars. And I give unto my son in law Asa Allen five dollars. I give to my son in law Charles Sorrells one other ninth part of my residuary estate deducting therefrom six hundred dollars. I give unto my son Lewis Jones, one other ninth part of my residuary estate, deducting there from eight hundred dollars. I give unto my sons Thomas Jones, William Jones and James Jones, each, one other ninth part of my residuary estate. Further my will is that my Negro man Harry be placed under the guardian of my executors to maintain himself and not be considered a slave to any one. Lastly, I hereby appoint my wife Sarah Jones, Executrix, and my son Russel Jones executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty seven. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the testator in our presence, who in his presence, and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Personally came into open court. Gray Alien who being duly sworn, saith that he saw Russel Jones sign and seal the within will as his last will and testament, and that he subscribed the same as a witness and saw Hugh A. Thompson and Russel T. Jones do so likewise.
