I'm still looking for information on Elgina South, daughter of Thomas and Margaret South. Elgina married my great-great-grandfather, Charles McCurdy in Pike Co. MO, in 1870.I'm descended from Charles McCurdy and his first wife, Elizabeth Tyler. (I still don't know if Elizabeth died or if they were divorced, and if it was in Kentucky or Missouri.)
I find it interesting that this line of the South family comes from New Jersey to Kentucky to Missouri. That is the same migration pattern of the McCurdys. It makes me wonder if Charles McCurdy knew the South's in Kentucky before he moved west to Missouri.
Questions: Do any of you know the religion that this line of South's practiced in the 1800s?Do any of you know where Elgina South McCurdy was buried? Was General South with the Union or the Confederacy? Was Elgina the mother of Hoy South? She is listed in his household in the 1900 census, evidently after her husband, Charles McCurdy died. Do any of you have a birthdate for Elgina and Charles McCurdy's son Charles (Buck)?Do any of you know a descendant of Elgina who is alive today?
That's alot of questions, but I'm desperate. Thank you for any information.
