Hi Patricia- I don't have specific info on Mary, but am tracing my own Sowards roots and am fascinated by the various branches of the family that took root in Indiana, Ohio, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Virginia.Complex it appears even to people who have traced them back into the 1600-1700s. A good deal of Soward/Sowards/Souard,etc. activityseems to have started in Maryland and Virginia (early settlers).
I will keep an eye out, but if you haven't yet done it, would recommend checking genforum under Ohio (select "by state") and then the county, Ross.I had good luck using that route for my Wiscosin gggrandfather. There was a contact person for Sowards info for the county.
Also, as you probably know, marriage licenses often contain the names of the parents of the two partners. If you don't know the county in which they were married, Vital Records for the state can help (marriage licenses usually cost about $7) if they were registering marriages by that date.
Also, eventually, your trail may lead to the Latter Day Saints site where Soward/Sowards/Tipsword data is pretty interesting.
I have started piecing things together by perusing genforum Soward and Sowards Family forums (search the forum for Mary, for Indiana, for Gasaway)
