Hi!I too am looking for information on William Spiller. The one I need information on was born to Samuel & Sarah Spiller in London England on 2/13/1826 (Terrace Albany Rd. Camberwell Surrey Co.)Widowed, with 2 daughters (Hattie & Edie) he came to the USA.Was told he became very ill on the boat & was robbed of all his money. When he reached the states he sent a message back to England to have more money sent. When it came, there was a mistake in letter credit, and he had to change his name to William Spiller Williams in order to get his money.Name change was on Oct. 8, 1889.He was a music professor in England, & played the violin for Queen Victoria & visited her palace often. This is all documented in an old family bible, including a certificate/medal from Queen Victoria. In 1875 (Oct.19th) he married Jane Virginia Holland from Suffolk, Nansemond, Va. Jane Virginia died,as did her 4th son John Carroll Williams on 10/28/1891.Their 4th daughter(6th child) is my ggGrandmother, Pearl Ida Williams (married George T. Gay).Need more information on the Spiller, Williams, Gay & Holland sides. All info appreciated. Thanks!
