Greetings Spilmans! The 76th reunion of the 12 Pioneer Families will gather on the 3d Sunday September weekend in Monett for its annual family gathering, photo swaps, family history stories and buffet style luncheon held on the 3d Sunday September 2010. Registration will start at 11:30 a.m. with Lunch at 1 p.m.
Attendees will celebrate their family ties on this once a year scheduled event in Monett City Park Casino building with a buffet style "bring a covered dish" meal. A short business meeting afterwards will be held. We held our 75th Diamond Jubilee Reunion last 3d Sunday September 2009 and took group photos of all 12 family groups which turned out quite well. Anyone who has not attended before can contact me for a Missouri State/Lawrence County map for directions, family histories, hotel/restaursants in the area as well.
We have grown from the first reunion held on 3d Sunday September, 1934 with the first 83 members consisting of Boucher, Cagle, Pruitt and Morris families to over 350 families now in 38 of the 50 States. In 1947 it was learned Elizabeth Cagle and Abigail Hewlett were sisters that expanded the Reunion from 4 linked families to 12 families and allied lines--the result of intermarriages of multi-siblings not previously known at the time.
We are still compiling family histories to celebrate these historic pioneer families and their contributions to the Ozarks culminating in a future history book publication of all 12 families.
Should anyone need information for motels/restaurants and area cemeteries, please contact me at my private e-mail listed below.
Hope to see you on 3d Sunday September 2010 in Monett, MO!
