My mother was a Sponheimer kin, through her mother, Laura Belle Spoonemore. You'll find the name was spelled several ways (including Sphonhimer, Sponemer, Spoonhimer, Spoonamore). I have a book called "Sponheimer Kindred" which starts with Johann Friedrich Sponheimer (born 1698 in Germany and died 1771 in Pennsylvania). He arrived in Philadelphia in 1748 aboard the ship "Patience and Margaret." My grandmother was a sixth generation descendant of his.The book was written in 1975 by Eunice Konold in San Diego, CA. The book traces direct descendants of this Johann, so the person you are trying to trace was likely a relation of his who came to the U.S. later. Another Johann Sponheimer (middle name Heinrich or Henrich) came to the US about 1752. His will, dated January 23, 1790, was probated in 1797 in Northampton County, PA. The book says it's unknown how he was related to the first Johann to arrive. I'll be happy to copy any of the info in this book for you.
