Could you provide me with any information about the family of Rev Martin VanBuren Hall or his wife, Celinda/Salinda Spore? He is the father of Henry H Hall, who settled near Neodesha, KS.
Mr. Henry Hall is my great-great grandfather, the father of Salinda/Celinda Hall. Celinda Hall married my great-grandfather, Frank Hallbauer.
Henry H. Hall was born to Rev. Martin V. and Salinda (Spore) Hall of Ohio. He was third in a family of nine. The Halls moved to Jefferson County, Indiana, when Rev. Hall died at the age of 54. Salinda lived to the age of 70. Henry Hall left Jefferson County and moved to Johnson County, Indiana, at the age of 17, where he hired himself out as a farm hand.
Henry Hall married Rebecca Goodwin, the daughter of Jerri and Marie Goodwin of Ripley County, Indiana, in Champaign County, Illinois, 10 June 1878. Seven children were born to Henry and Rebecca Hall -- Oscar, Alfred, Alvah, John, Samuel (died at age 2), Salinda and Lillie. Alfred and Alvah were twins.
Henry Hall moved his family to Wilson County in 1884, until the opening of the Oklahoma Territory, but he left Oklahoma after two years. In 1898, he purchased 350 acres almost adjoining the town of Neodesha. Half of this tract was in the Fall River valley, and was very productive.
Henry died in 1928, and is buried in Varner Cemetery, south of Neodesha. Rebecca Spore Hall died in the spring of 1938, and is buried beside her husband.
Any information you could provide about the Rev Martin Hall or his wife's family, would be most helpful.
