JACKSONVILLE - Larry V. Spradlin, 64, of Jacksonville passed away Monday afternoon, June 27, 2011 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born December 23, 1946 in Jacksonville the son of Earl and Helen Coop Spradlin. He married Shirley Conway and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by his fiancé, Diana Stephenson of Jacksonville; two brothers, Bernard (wife, Audrey) Spradlin of Thomson and Thomas (wife, Diane) Spradlin of Quincy; 3 sisters, Lola (husband, Joe) Douglas of Black Rock, AR, Nancy (husband, Carl) Constant of Riverton and Joyce Hendrian of Quincy; one step-son, Walt Conaway of Springfield and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Sherry; two brothers, Albert Spradlin, Sr. (surviving wife, Judy of Jacksonville) and Earl Spradlin and two sisters, Phyllis Surratt and Lois Quintero.
Mr. Spradlin served in the United States Army, having received the Sharpshooter, Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. He had been employed at Armco Pipe in Springfield for many years and later at Pactiv in Jacksonville.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society .
