Can anyone tell me if the Spring surname is to be found among the 10,000 or so Paletine refugees that left Germany for England via Rotterdam in 1709? I believe that 2000 were sent back, about 3000 to Ireland and the rest to North America. About 870 families settled in Ireland and some of their surnames include: Barkman, Benner, Fizelle, Ruttle, Sparling, Stark, Switzer and Teskey. The largest group in Ireland settled in Co. Limerick where their German dialect was spoken up until 1880.
