The 1900 census of Allegheny City (now part of Pittsburgh), Allegheny County, PA shows John Spring, born July 1827 in Switzerland with son Samuel and family. It indicates John immigrated in 1871 and Samuel in 1872 Both were naturalized citizens.
Also listed in that same database is a Magdelina Spring who died in 1896. I suggest checking with the cemetery to see what they may have in their records. The Allegheny County Register of Wills (or rather the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh) should have their death records. It may not tell you much more than their exact dates of death.
