Gilda 'Jill' Sproles, 76, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, went to be with her Lord Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2011, after an extended illness.
She was born on June 23, 1934, in Kingsport, where she resided all of her life. Jill retired from Wholesale Electric in 1996 after 37 years of service. She was a pianist and singer with the original Sproles Family Singers and Joyful Sounds. Jill attended First Apostolic Christian Church. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School.
Jill is preceded in death by her father, T. B. 'Bruce' Sproles, and mother, Marie Dalton Sproles; brothers, Hagal Sproles, Tyler Odell Sproles, Charles Sproles, Jack Sproles, Rev. Tom Sproles, and Bill Sproles; sisters, Ethel Albright and Maureen Felmet; and special niece, Judi Roland.
She is survived by sister, Georgia Flannery, of Miamisburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 28, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 3 p.m., at East Lawn Memorial Park, with David Spears officiating. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m.
