Elizabeth Herr was originally from Mt. Joy - her parents were Chrisitian Herr and Fannie Eshleman.Christian Herr served in the revolution.I have not seen the oil-on-wood painting of Maj. Atwood. (my Uncle has the painting, but my mother has seen it).I am led to understand that he was in the Revolution - although I can't confirm this (like you, I approach family lore with guarded expectations!).I have Elizabeth Herr's blood line back to Rev. Hans Herr himself.I know nothing about Joseph Sproat (all family notes I have spell it as Sproat, although I have read several posts on this board that show that the A and U seemed to be changed freely).
Are you descended from the Sproat-Sprout family?
