Kathleen, Documented info I have on Hosea B. Sprout is:
Research by Anita Hayes, on Jan 30, 2005, revealed the following:
In the book "Tree Talks" - Vol 34 -pg. #3 = Letters of Administration - Wyoming County, New York: " Azuba Sprout of the town of Attica, died Intestate. Letters to Hosea B. Sprout, son, March 30, 1846 pg. - 79 / 80. "
Thus we have proven Hosea B. Sprout was the son of Nathaniel and Azuba (Cummings) Sprout. /jmboie
Source: " Republican Advocate (Batavia, NY Newspaper) June 17, 1825 issue: Married Attica - Hosea B. Sprout to Saloma Stanhope." I do not have a death of Saloma (Stanhope) Sprout - but it is very possible that she did die. I also do not have a 2nd wife named Sarah Morse for Hosea B. Sprout - but that 2nd wife is certainly possible, too.
The children named for Hosea B. Sprout - John H. -b: 1835, Amanda -b: 1837 and Eunice Sprout -b: 1839, come from the 1850 Attica, Wyoming Co., NY census record - on which census there was no living wife named.
Therefore - at this time I do not have any documented information that tells us if there was a death of Hosea's first wife Salome; if there was a marriage to a 2nd wife named Sarah Morse; nor do we have the name of the wife who actually was the mother of Hosea Sprout's three children. However, the document you quote in your last post - seems to suggest that a Sarah Morse, daughter of Daniel Morse Jr (and Daniel's wife Patty??) - was a second wife of Hosea B. Sprout and probably the mother of the children named in the will. It also seems to suggest that this Sarah (Morse) Sprout was deceased and according to the 1850 Wyoming Co., NY census - she died before the 1850 census was taken.
I have more information on the son John H. Sprout with Minnesota connections - if you are interested.
