James Spurgin wife Elenor sell their Monongalia Co VA (WV) land 22 Sep 1789 and he appears as a signer of a 1790 Bourbon Co KY petition to erect mills on Stoner and Hinkson's forks of the Licking River. Is on 1790 tax list for Bourbon Co in John Waller's District with 4 tithables, 5 horses or cows. 1790 Clark Co KY tax list. Possibly on 1800 Harrison Co KY tax list. Kentucky Court of Appeals Deed, Bk G, p. 376, 222 Jul 1803, indenture John Williams to Peter Machir, Mason Co KY, mentions 1789 and 1793 bonds given by John Williams to James Spurgeon for several large tracts of KY land. James Spurgeon of Mason Co KY purchased 462 1/2 acres of John Machir on 6 Jun 1805 (v. 5, p. 26), and 537 1/2 acres of Nathaniel Massie on 17 Sep 1806 (v. 6, p. 20), all in Brush Creek Twp., Adams Co OH. Adams Co Deeds, v. 6, p. 466, lists agreement to will of James Spurgin, 9 Feb 1811, naming children: John Spurgin, Ezekiel Spurgin, Ann Zumwalt, Ellener Anderson, all of Ohio, and Isaac Spurgin of KY. I think the Rush Co Joseph was a grandson of James and Elenor Spurgin, and therefore a nephew of Nathaniel and Ellenor Anderson.
