Barbara - I don't know if we have a connection here or not, but my GGrandmother, Anna Maria Staines' father was named John BROMBY Staines - "BROMBY" being the operative word here.I have no idea if that is a common name, so it may mean nothing at all.I have little-to-no information on the Staines side except the following: Anna married Edgar Graham Gould on May 10, 1881 in Donnington, Jamaica and they had 9 children, one of whom was my grandmother.Anna's father John Bromby Staines immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland to Jamaica about 1840.Anna inherited some land from her father in Vale Cottage, Jamaica, not sure what District or Parish, around 1896.Anna died July 21, 1911, of cancer in Mt. Herman, Jamaica.
I have all the names and some of the birth dates, etc. of Anna's children, and descendants, many of whom are either in Jamaica or Costa Rica.I'd be glad to send you what I have if you think there is a connection. I'm trying to get dates and family names on the Staines side so if we DO connect, I'd appreciate anything you can provide.Thanks.
