Thanks for responding.Yes, my wife Susan and I also traveled to Glasgow.. As memory serves me, that is where William T. Stallmann and his wife Sophia (Kunkel) Stallmann moved.William was a son of Bernard and Anna (Dodt) Stallman.Sue and I drove to the cemetery and located their graves in Washington Cemetery, Glasgow. We also looked in the phone book, saw some Stallmann's still in the Glasgow area, but were too shy to call. Are you related to William and Sophia?
My wife Susan passed away January 10, 1996.She had developed breast cancer, and I lost her.During 1995, we made several trips over to Wein, and visited what we believed to be the abandoned farm house where her grandmother, Elizabeth was raised. It was immediately across from where some present day Kunkel's live.
You are correct - Elizabeth Stallmann came to Quincy, and married Henry Clement Schutte.I met her before she passed away.Susan liked her a lot, and for that reason, was doing the research on her and Bernard.
Elizabeth and Henry Schutte had five children, all born in Quincy:
Ralph Joseph Schutte - Born 1909 Louise Mary Schutte - Born 1911 Romanus Joseph Schutte - Born 1913 Esther Mary Schutte - Born 1918 Ruth Ann Schutte - Born 1920
Only Louise and Ruth are still living.Ruth married Virgil Ostermiller of Quincy.Ruth and Virgil had Susan, Joyce, and Jim.Susan was born in 1945 and I married her in 1967.
We looked long and hard to find Bernard Stallmann's arrival in the U.S.It was one of Susan's wishes to find his arrival in U.S., but she passed away before we could find that.Since, I found a record of his departure from Europe, but never found his arrival in U.S.
