Lou,
I have tried to contact you before and always seemed to miss you. I think you are dealing with such an early time that it may be nearly impossible to trace your Sarah Stancil who married William Cobb.
With that said I wanted to mention to you that I do have a Sarah Stancil that is probably your best bet.
John Stancil born ca 1662 had a son named Peter born ca 1700 or so. That son named Peter died about 1736. Peter's widow Sarah remarried a Richard Sparkman.
In 1740 John Stancil Jr., Peter's brother, was appointed guardian to the orphans of Peter Stancil. Amoung those orphans was a Sarah Stancil whose birth is estimated about 1735.
I am typing this all from memory and can't remember all the specific sources right off hand. Let me tell you where to look though. Start with Bertie County, NC deeds and court records. Then look at the Tyrrel County, NC deeds and court records. In those two counties you should find information about these people.
I think this Sarah Stancil is your most likely candidate, but I don't know if it will ever be possible to prove it.
Her location makes sense too as William Cobb's family was probably also from the Bertie County area.
Hope this helps. I know you have been searching for your Sarah for some time.
Tracy
