I was browsing the Standifer forum and noticed your post back in January.Looks like I didn't respond and it might have been because I was out of state at that time.Maybe I "lost" the reply notice when I was checking my email messages. So sorry.

Now, if you click on this link --http://www.carolyar.com/Lineages/ZachStandifer.htmhttp://www.carolyar.com/Lineages/ZachStandifer.htm -- it will give you some details on Zackariah Standifer and family.
Main page for Carol Yarbrough's site (chuck full of Standifer, Standefer, Sandefer etc information)
You can use the search feature, but Carol has sooo much information I thought it might give you a jump start if I went looking for you first. Now, you can continue searching, see what else you can find on there.
It rather looks like Zachariah is son of James http://www.carolyar.com/JamesStandifer1797.htmhttp://www.carolyar.com/JamesStandifer1797.htm
Looks like your Lee Co, VA family went through the Cumberland Gap into KY. My line opted out for the easy way and went down the Squatchie Valley in TN. Although it looks like Zachariah's father, James, did drop down into Hancock Co, TN, just across the VA border where he died.
I didn't try and track down your James, it is one of those really common given names in all branches of the Standifer and Standefer families.James, William, Luke, Israel and Isaac run right down through my Standefer line.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
