Abraham Standlee was the son of David Standlee Jr., and Esther Tagert, daughter of John Tagert, the first sheriff of Tryon Co NC (this fact has been proven by the comparison of two signature of 1777 and 1790, and the two signatures match!)
David Jr was the son of David Stanley/Standley and wife Hannah found as early as 1758 in Anson/Tryon/Mecklenburg Co NC.
According to a deposition by a Abraham Standley in the Illinois Territorial Papers, he claims to be the son of David Standley Sr of Robertson Co Tn, and brothers of David Standlee Jr and John Standlee, bothof Logan Co Ky. He also mentions his brother-in-law. Jacob McCarty of Robertson Co Tn (our line).
Jacob McCarty and wife Catherine Standley can be found in Stewart Co, Tn living on Guices Creek along with his neighbor John Parchment. John was the father of Elizabeth Parchment, wife of your Abraham Standlee. John Parchment was also a witness to the will of Jacob McCarty.
As to an additional Tagert connection, John Tagert's son Jamesmarried Sarah McCarty, daughter of Jacob & Catherine Standley McCarty.
We have much more on their travels prior to the early 1790's to include VA, Ga, Tn, Illinois, and back to Tn and Ky.
