My great-grandfather William F Stanfield was born Feb 1, 1855 in Georgia. His sister, Emma (Emmer) was born in either 1854 GA or was a twin to William F (census records show they were close in age--so trying a twin line also). Both of their parents were also born in Georgia.
My problem is in locating them before the Johnson Station, Tarrant Co, Texas 1880 census. Since I have not been successful with Stanfield and Standfield, I thought I would try Stanfill or Stansfill.
Does anyone have any information on a William F and Emma Stanfill/Stansfill/Standfield/Stanfield who were both born in Georgia to Georgia-born parents? Emma may be close to a year older than William or may have been his twin. They are together all through the time from 1880 on, living in the same areas. I need information on them before.
William may have been called "Bill/Billy/Will/Willie". In later years, he was called Bill. Emma was affectionately called Emmer. Emma was a short person who was hunched-back. Whether she was that way all her life, I have no knowledge at this time.
Records show that Emma married Joseph Cunningham 1870 Bartow, GA and the maiden name is given as "Stanfield", but Emma never received any schooling and so did not know how to spell/read.
If you have any names along this line during the age period given, please notify me here. I am having a hard time breaking that brick wall. Thank you. Sue Ricketson
