Let's see if the George Stange in my family matchs yours.
The George Stange in the tree I'm researching is the son of Claude and Anna Stange. Claude and Anna lived in La Crosse, WI for a while and eventually moved to Minneapolis, MN. Shortly after moving there Claude died in 1918.
Claude and Anna's other children were named Dora, Viola, and Harold. I believe that Anna's maiden name might of been Hoppe. I'm not sure on the spelling though. I do know that Claude and Anna married in La Crosse on June 28, 1894.
Claude was the son of Johann Stange, Sr. and Marie "Sophia" Dopp. The Stanges immigrated from Germany in 1883. I think they were passengers on the ship "Hohenstaufen" that ported in Baltimore, Maryland on April 27, 1883. Claude's siblings were Peter, John Jr., Catherine, and Magdalene. John Jr., Catherine and Magdalene stayed in the La Crosse area. Peter moved to Moline, IL, area.
So, do we have a match with the George Stange? My friend's ancestor is Catherine Stange.
