I'm interested in William Stanley, apparently born about 1814 in London and died 1902 in Sydney Australia.
He travelled to Australia and married at Sydney in 1848 to Susannah New.Susannah died in Sydney in 1865 aged 37.
Their oldest son William Henry Stanley was born about 1848and died in 1906,a railway stationmaster at Singleton NSW.
The elder Stanley was a well-known music teacher ( and claimed to be a professor of music ) in Sydney for more than 50 years. He also seems to have operated as some sort of concert promoter.
This son William Henry Stanley (c.1848-1906) appears to have been a bigamist, somehow managing to raise one family as an shipping clerk in Everton, Englandand another family simultaneously as a railway worker at Wollongong, NSW, Australia.
The English incarnation of William Henry Stanley is slightly notable as the apparent great-grandfather of Beatle, John Lennon.
Can anyone explain how William Henry Stanley lived such a life in the era before jet travel ?
